Research notes
Three versions: i) a rare earliest version (1894/5) that uses a crank-handle winding mechanism rather than the later metal finger-tab key. The umbrella on this model features highly detailed lithographs of flowers and birds but lacks butterflies; ii) the rarest Iron Cross Version (1896), where the umbrella has 4 white and red sectors; iii) umbrella decorated with a ring of stars and alternating red and white stripes. This was specifically tailored for export to the United States (ours) entury Cyclewo versions, different umbrella: earlier birds and flowers, later (ours) stripes; based on a pedal taxi designed by Hermann Ganzwindt in 1895 for Berlin
